New Friends

Hi everyone!
Happy Friday to You:)

Nikki works at Accessible San Diego, information center for visitors with disabilities. Her main job is to give out info on what's accessible in San Diego to disabled visitors. So she had been talking with this blind couple from Bay Area for the past few months and helping them plan a trip to San Diego. Then, they finally arrived and visited our office!

Nikki was happy to see Becky & Gabe after communicating via email for a while! I was happy because I've made friends with their guide dogs, Morigan & Kenzy! Becky & Gabe are both very cheerful and fun people, and their dogs are both veteran guides! Nikki & I were the newbies in the guide dog world!

Since it was lunch time, all of us, including Joe & Jake, decided to go to lunch to the deli nearby. 4 people and 4 dogs!!! Wow!!! It went very well though. While humans ate, all doggies were quietly under the table. What a pro!!! During lunch, Nikki & Becky found a lot of things in common, one being Starbucks adicts!!! Wish they lived closer...

After lunch, Nikki & I led the way to the Old Town Trolley Tour stop by the mall, where they got back on the trolley car. It was cool to be followed by other guide dog teams! I felt like a real pro!

Becky & Gabe said that they would come back to San Diego some time soon! Hope we will have more time to play together next time around. We'll keep in touch!

Princess Coral,

I know that Zane would love to respond to this story. Nikki and Shelby were always great leaders at GDB school.

I recall that Zane and I could never keep up with those two. Zoom! They were off and moving like there was a fire. I hope that these visitors from the Bay Area could keep up with her.

Coral, you have a great team leader. She's one of the best that I knew during our training and she was always giving me "extra bacon" and I really loved that.

I just had my physical yesterday for my application to be a "re-train." I had no idea that I would be a retrain so quickly. I sure do miss Zane, but I know they are taking good care of him.

All the best to both of you.

Love, Richard

Hi Richard,

Zane is forever in your extented family, which of course includes his puppy raisers; then your new dog and his/her raiser(s)!!! How cool is that!!!

Yes, at the beginning, Nikki was frustrated with me because I wouldn't pick up a pace or change pace block by block. But now I got it! These days, she's telling me to steady... Don't you think what you get is what you ask for??? Tell her to make up her mind...

Hope you get to see your new dog soon! I'm sure Zane hopes the same.

Best wishes,

Coral

P.S. Would you tell me how you got Nikki to give you her bacon??? Pretty Please???
