Blink and Guide Dog #9 - Let's get a dog!
Two Christmases ago, Greg broke his leg and stuck in the house for a few weeks. He wanted a companion while Nikki was at work. So they decided to adopt a dog from a local shelter. To be honest, Nikki wasn't thrilled with the idea at the beginning. "It's going to be a lot of work to take care of a dog..." was her thought. But she didn't say anything because she felt bad about leaving Greg alonn. So after a long search for a "perfect dog," a Yorkie puppy
came in their life. They were happy to get a purebred Yorkie without paying big dollars! His name was Little Pimp! He was a tiny puppy, and quiet for a terrier. He was content to sit in someone's lap all day! The only problem was potty training!!! Nikki was right. It was a lot of work to take care of a puppy. But Little Pimp stole her heart very quickly! She took him for a short walk every day, combed his long hair, played with him, and of course cleaned up after him a thousand times a day!!! She realized the joy of having a dog in her life! Thanks to Little Pimp, she finally made up her mind and told Greg that she was going to get a guide dog!One thing that I've found out about Nikki is that it takes forever for her to decide on something. But once it's done, she's nonstop! I guess it has to be that way in order to carry out the decision! As soon as she decided to get a guide dog, Nikki started researching schools in California. She was torn between Guide Dogs of America (GDA) in Los Angeles and Guide Dogs for the Blind, and turned in the application to both schools.
