With the help of the people at the Blind Center from her previous visit, she rented a room in a beautiful house and started her college life! Nikki tells me that college was tough and fun at the same time! Is it possible? Fun & tough at the same time??? I guess human readers who are in college would understand... Anyway, she transfered to San Diego State in 99 as a linguistics major. What a major to pick!!! It's like the anatomy of language! Why would you pull apart words and write in weird format??? Nikki can't even spell correctly half the time... You guys have noticed that, right??? Nikki seemed to have enjoyed school even though it was a struggle especially in the upper division classes, She went to the library in the evening and even on the weekends! She was nuts!!! One night before the finals, she stayed on campus till the library closed at 2:00am! Her boyfriend at that time was supposed to pick her up, but he flaked on her!!! Luckily, this nice manager at 7-11 offered Nikki to stay at her place near campus! I really believe that angels were watching over her!!! She was a lot more social than Japanese college days. She made tons of friends. But I think that she missed out a lot by being stuck with this one guy for nearly 3 years, whom she called her boyfriend... He wasn't a good match. Wether he meant or not, he really used her... However, God probably sent him to
Nikki's life so she could learn her lesson on "real America."

Princess Coral,
Dad took me to Amelia Island, FL for a week and I have had a bad week, trying to get over some kind of stomach flu. You have been quite busy writing stories. It's been fun catching up.
Your Disneyland pics were neat and crossing that street had to be hairy!
Princess, since you were not at GDB when I was there, when Nikki talks about Mayumi, her best friend, I got to know a dog named Mayumi. She became Frank's dog, I think. She sure was cute!
Mayumi sounds like a great friend and inspiration to Nikki. I'm glad she listened to her and pursued college and coming to the USA. Wow, you had your own note takers and readers in school. Were they cute boys? Not a social butterfly? I don't believe it! When she was around me, she was always laughting and joking with Dad. I could tell Dad really enjoyed talking with her.
Helena Montana? Wow, that must have been COLD, but I bet very beautiful and the air was fresh and clean. What a fantastic adventure that must have been for you.And you had some fun adventures in New Orleans (I can just see Nikki bumping into all those drunks on Bourbon Street! Plus San Fran and San Diego, you have to be very thankful to the MYCA. I can just hear you singing it now Y-M-C-A....Y-M-C-A.
What a great opportunity that must have been to got to college at SDSU. Dad and I just watched them get beat by Notre Dame last night! Sorry abou that. Sounds like Greg is the one and you are truly happy.
Thanks so much for sharing about your life.
Lots of love, Pricess! Zane
My poor prince, Stomach flu? Are you OK? It must have been hard to get sick somewhere else. It's hard enough at home...
Yes, Nikki & Frank talk on the phone every now & then. They are planning to get together forever, which hasn't happened... I'd love to see the doggie Mayumi! When she heard the dog's name Mayumi, Nikki thought that it would be cool to have her since human Mayumi was her best friend! But ironicly, Mayumi is the one that Shelby snapped at!!! Oh well, ...
Nikki only had a notetaker for one math class, and that was a lady. The readers were usually girls too. Boo... There were some cute test procters though...
New Orleans was a lot of fun! During the Mardi Gras week, I went out every night and came back with tons of beads!!! Sure, I bumped into drunks, but I was drunk enough that I don't remember...
See, Nikki was a bad girl in New Orleans! But I be it's not the same after the Katrina.
