Last Sunday was the 1st Annual San Diego Vision Walk at Mission Bay Park. It is to raise money for the cure of blindness from retinal diseases such as RP and Macular Degeneration. They are the leading causes of blindness in all ages. Zane's dad became blind from RP, and now he's a Big Guy of the Fighting Blindness in Cororado. Of course, Zane-Train is geared up for the CO Vision Walk on 9/27 because Zane wants his dad to be able to see again!
Nikki & I went to the Walk with our friend Naomi & her baby JJ! It was a nice cool morning, and there were many people, music and food! I think it was pretty good for the first time event. You know the formula of a cute baby + a pretty dog? That equals a People Magnet! Many came to say hi to us, and others with babies gathered around while we were waiting for the walk to start. So JJ made new friends! He's such a cute baby, entertained with a zipper of his Mom's sweater:)
We finished the 5k walk in less than 1 hour. This time, I didn't need a pee break! I was flying the first half because everything was new & exciting! But I got bored after the turn-around point; I don't like a reverse rout... Naomi & Nikki were chatting away the whole time, and JJ fell asleep in his stroller. For Naomi, this was a piece of cake because she's training for the upcoming 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk! She says that she'll call when she walks in our area. I think it would be fun to walk; a good exercise for both Nikki & me!

Good job Coral and Nikki! I am trying to talk my mom into taking me to the CO vision walk... but she isn't sure if we can make it you. I'm crossing my paws! -- Douglas
Good job Nikki and Coral ... I hope Utah has a Vision Walk sometime soon for RP.
Douglas, if you go to CO Vision Walk, look for a black lab guide, Zane and give him a hi-five for me!
Becky, this one was the first in San Diego. I hope it happens in every big & small cities too!
Hey there!
I've nominated you for a blog award. :D Stop by my blog for details.
Kelsey, Tahoe, and Chappelle
Coral & Nikki,
It is so great to see htat you attended the San Diego VisionWalk. That was their first year and I know they really appreciated your support.
Zane wants to thank both of you for supporting the Zane Train and the Colorado VisionWalk. Thank you!
You may now know that Zane had to return to San Rafael for rehabilitation. I was very SAD to take him back, but he needs to work out some issues and get back on track. He may have some medical issues to resolve.
Coral, please pray for Zane's quick return.
Zane's Dad, Richard
