Blink and Guide Dog #2 - Her best friend, Mayumi

As a little girl, Nikki had lots of dreams; one day, she wanted to be a singer, nurse the next day, and a flight attendant the day after... However, your future path was pretty much set if you were blind in Japan. I think it's changed now, but when Nikki was growing up, most blind kids went to a special school and became either a massage therapist or an acupancturist. So, despite all those dreams, Nikki kind of thought that was what she would do wether she liked or not...
But not her best friend Mayumi! She wanted something different! She didn't know what, but she wanted to make her own path instead of following everyone else.

Nikki and Mayumi were almost like sisters. They went to the same school since the first grade. They became the best friends and shared their secret dreams. While Nikki was rather shy girl who followed the rest, Mayumi was a leader. She always wanted to try something nobody had done before, and encouraged Nikki along. In fact, it wasn't for Mayumi, Nikki wouldn't have gone to college nor would she have come to the US!
