A Bit Under the Weather

Hi everyone,

You know, there have been some sick people around me recently, but I was as happy & healthy as a pup can be! Or so I thought... I'm not feeling that well lately either. It all started with my left ear. It was kind of bugging me for a while, but not a big deal. However one morning, when Nikki cleaned my ears, she noticed the cotton ball being dirtier & stinkier on my left ear! So when we got to the office, Nikki asked Joe to look at it. Since Joe has had a service dog for years, he knows these doggie stuff! Unfortunately, Joe said that my ear was very pink, and I should go to the vet... (sigh) Nikki called Sherry at GDB, and off to the vet we went.

The vet was right next to Pet Smart. So at first, I was excited! I thought we were going shopping! But instead, I had to get on shiny metal table!!! The nurses & doctors were nice; didn't poke me or anything. But I couldn't wait to get off that table! Then after they listened to my heart and looked at my ears & all, the nice lady doctor gave me a big cookie!!! Oh boy! Nikki would never, ever let me have this big cookie!!! I was in heaven! To show my appreciation, I sat on the metal table and politely accepted the cookie. I decided to stay on the table and finish my prize! Doctors & nurses were all laughing; even Nikki was laughing...
Anyway, they sent us home with a tube of ointment for my ear. That means 1 more thing added to my daily beauty session!!!

Then yesterday afternoon, I started feeling all weird... (Stop reading if you are eating!) I had super loose #2 first, and when we got home I threw up twice on the carpet! Although it was dinner time, I wasn't sure if I was hungry or not!!! Mean Nikki had me sit on the porch for a while to see if I would still throw up, but I was done. She called her friend who also has a guide dog; they talked about me and what happened. Nikki was asking her what to do because the vet was already closed. THANK GOD! I don't want to go to the vet with an upset tummy because I won't be able to have that big cookie at the doc's office! Well, I don't know what her friend told Nikki, but she didn't feed me for a long time! I wasn't sure if I was feeling lousy from upset tummy or from hunger! Finally at around 9:00pm, she called me into the kitchen. She decided to give me some food because I hadn't been puking. I looked into my bowl and saw something different from my usually kibbles! I remembered Zane telling me about white rice & real boiled chicken he was able to eat when he was sick! I got real happy for a second! But no such luck for me... Nikki gave me white rice, but no real checken... Guys! talk to this MEAN LADY!!! I ate the rice anyway and went to bed.
Today I think I'm feeling better. I had rice & kibble mix for breakfast. NO CHECKEN... I got a couple of kibbles on the way to work when I did a good street crossing, and when I showed Nikki a barricade with yellow tape right in front of her office. I haven't thrown up or anything. So maybe she'll give me a full dinner... Does anyone know a good remedy for upset tummy with vomit & diarrhea? Don't tell me Pepto Bismo!!! Say Chicken!!!
