Hi everyone, whoever happened to come across to read my blog!
My name is Coral, a yellow lab. I just turned 2 in April, still a very playful puppy:)
But I am a guide dog! I take my partner, Nikki around San Diego all day and every day!
Nikki is legally blind since she was born. What does it mean? She is blind, but can see a little bit; just enough to get her in trouble. That's why my skills are very useful & helpful for her. When we go out, I become her eyes and navigate lots of things on the street. Of course, she has to tell me which way to go because I don't read street signs nor am I a built-in GPS! But if she tells me to go forward when a car is coming towards us, I firmly plant my 4 legs and will not move for our dear lives! That's one of many things I have been trained to do as a guide dog.
Nikki had been using a white cane to get around for a long time, but decided that she wanted safer travel and fun companion. So she contacted Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB). That's the beginning of our story. I'll tell you more about it later! I'm getting sleepy; better catch a little nap:)
Love,
Princess Coral

Princess Coral,
Mom is glad that your mom posted the address for your blog on the GDUI friends list.
I'm a dog guide too, but from a different school. Mom flew out to New Jersey to train with me last September. Hmmm....maybe I will write my story sometime when Mom is not looking. I love sneaking the keyboard.
Lots of licks, Julia
