When you become a guide dog, you experience a lots of things with your partner, some fun, some not so... Yesterday was one of those stressful and "not so fun" day.
Greg became very sick all the sudden while he was having breakfast! Nikki & David (Greg's brother) called 911. Within minutes, I heard a siren and a red vehicle pulled into our driveway! You know that scary big car that howls on the street?!?! Then, several people in uniform swarmed into the house and started asking a bunch of questions about Greg's condition. Our tiny living room was very crowded, and I was afraid that someone would step on me or kick me by accident. Banzai was barking & whynning in his cage! I don't blame him at all. It was very chaotic!
Finally they put Greg into the ambulance to take him to the hospital. Nikki and I decided to go with him. At first a lady said that I couldn't go, but medics said it was OK because I was a guide dog. Riding in an ambulance was just like riding in a big car, but with tense air all over! I sat with Nikki in front. No one spoke on the way to Kaiser. I could feel Nikki being stressed out!
We spent the entire day in the ER. Doctors didn't quite figure out what was wrong with Greg, but ruled out heart problem. THANK GOD!!! With everything he's dealing with for the last couple months, he doesn't need another big problem!!!
At around 6:00pm, doctors finally gave him an OK to go home, and we got a ride home from a friend. It was nice to go home and play with Banzai after being in harness all day! Greg seems to be doing fine. Hope he gets better soon!

Mom says she is glad that Greg is better and that there's nothing seriously wrong. I've never ridden in an ambulance, but I was with Mom when she collapsed at the doctor's office. That was no fun.
Wow, what a scary experience! My mom went in an ambulance once, but they left me home in my kennel. She was only in the ER for 3 or 4 hours though.
That is good that Greg is feeling better, hopefully he will stay better!
Brittany & Julia (and Alexis),
Thank you so much for your kind words for Greg! He is doing much better, and I do hope it stays that way! I really don't want to ride in an anbulance again.

Princess, my darling,
I'm so sorry to hear about Greg. I'm glad that he feels a little better! That ride in the ambulance had to be fun. I think that's the one with all the LOUD noice, right? They kind of scare me when I'm walking down the street. I'm not sure which direction to get out of the way. Sounds like it all worked out for you.
Glad you and Nikki are doing well. Sounds like it's pretty HOT there too.
Stay cool sweetie, Zane
Glad Greg is doing better. As puppy raisers - we get together with the OPFD and practice emergency exercises where we ride in ambulances/fire trucks/etc with our dogs. Sounds like quite an adventure - glad everything turned out okay.
